Janice Michalk

The family of Janice Knight Michalk announce the passing of their loved one on December 12, 2021.

Janice was born in Kingsville on December 16,1935 to her parents Thomas (T.G.) and Opal Knight. She was baptized on April 11,1937. Janice left this world for her Eternal Home with her Lord Jesus…just 4 days shy of her 86th birthday.

Janice was the daughter of a Kingsville pioneer family.  Her father, T.G. Knight arrived in the Kingsville area along with the railroad in 1904. With the exception of a few years earlier in her life, Janice was a lifelong resident of Kingsville.   While in high school, she was a four-year drum major of the Mighty Brahma Band. Just like the TV show, “Happy Days”, Janice and her boyfriend Odis were the perfect couple. She was the drum major and Odis the All-State athlete. These two high school sweethearts were married on June 19, 1954, and it was a match meant to be. They were married for 67 years and became the parents of six daughters.

In addition to raising her six girls, Janice was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Kingsville. In 1966 she began a busy career alongside Odis in real estate, opening American Realty. Later companies were Century 21 and Kingsville Realty Group. She was Realtor of the Year in 1974 and served the local Board of Realtors in many capacities including President of the Kingsville Board of Realtors. Her real estate career introduced her to the mortgage business where she also worked for Jackie Johnson Mortgage and Loper Financial Corporation. In her most active years, she was involved in many community clubs, activities and committees.

Janice spent her life doing everything with Odis, her family, career, her church, and plenty of fun times on her journey through life. Janice had a way of making people feel at home with her and her large family.  She was multi-talented and enthusiastically enjoyed all kinds of projects that included her gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mariana Jaime, brother-in-law William Jaime and grandson, Austin White.

Her survivors include her husband Odis F. Michalk, her six daughters: Nanette Kuhn (Danny), Natalie Geary, Nona Moffitt (Ricky), Catheryn Hoffstadt (Jeff), Paula Fuller (Durwin) and Marsha Michalk. She also leaves twelve grandchildren: Dennis Kuhn (Crystal), Leslie Hakala (Benjamin), Matthew Kuhn, Pamela McGill (Chad), Bobbie Ann Geary, Ashley Webster (Chad), Stuart Moffitt (Amanda), Shane White, Crystal LaBlanc (Derek), Janelle Moles (Michael), Joshua Fuller and Chandler Michalk.

In addition, Janice was blessed to have seventeen great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Iris and Wesley Kuhn; Claire and Collin Hakala; Isaac and Andrew Copeland; Fayth, Halle Jo and Sterling Webster; Tatum, Kole and Lola Moffitt; Emma, Jonah, Nathan, and Anna Catheryn LeBlanc; she also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who are thankful to have had her in their lives.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
