James (Jim) Smith, 68, died in a vehicle accident on July 26, 2016, near Realitos, Texas. He was born in Kingsville, Texas, to Henry "Hank" Meadows Smith, Sr. and Frances Northcutt Smith. Jim was a graduate of Texas A & M University, lived in Kenya and Botswana, Africa, and made his career as a cattleman. He recently retired as ranch manager at the Vogt Ranch in Hebbronville after working there for 23 years. Jim was a long time member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Cutting Horse Association. He loved his horses, dogs, and guns.
Jim is survived by two children, his daughter Angela Smith Bull (Bren), of Kingsville, and son Patrick Smith (Alicia) of Portland, Texas; three grandchildren, Grant, Grace and Anton "Rain"; and two brothers, Henry M. Smith, Jr. of Kingsville, and Robert "Bobby" Smith of Baytown, Texas.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 5th at 4 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, Jim would want you to support the National Rifle Association and don't vote for Hillary.
