Israel Vela, Sr.

Israel Rique Vela Sr., age 67, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born January 17, 1947 in Edinburg, Texas to Serapio and Ramona Carrion Vela. He was employed for Texas AM University Kingsville for 13 years.
Israel was preceded in death by his parents son, Israel G. Vela Jr. and three brothers, Hector Vela, Efrain Vela and Elizar Vela.
Mr. Vela is survived by his wife, Maria Luisa Gutierrez Vela son, Joey Leanne Vela four stepbrothers, Domingo Alicia Vela, Raul Vela, Leoniles Vela and Sonny Vela sister, Alma Olan two grandsons, Israel G. Vela and Sergio Andres Vela three granddaughters, Kimberly Marie Vela, Kristy Renee Vela and Katherine Celeste Vela one greatgranddaughter, Allison Marie Alvarado and daughterinlaw, Carol G. Vela.
Public visitation will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2014 at St. Josephs Catholic Church with Fr. Romeo Salinas as celebrant. Burial will follow in Kingsville at the Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
