Irasema Mayorga

Irasema "Edie" Rios Mayorga was called home on November 14, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family who never left her side. She was 52. Edie was born to Frank and Fita Rios on August 8, 1963. She was a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas and loved her community and her Brahma family. In 1985, she met Juan Jose "John" Mayorga Sr. They later married and had two sons, Johnny and Matthew. Edie was a special education teacher and worked for the Ben Bolt- Palito Blanco school district for 26 years, where she retired from in 2014. She was a dedicated mother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and educator.
Edie was an exceptional and charismatic person. She never met a stranger and would always say that everyone has a story to tell. She had the unique ability to put a smile on even the saddest of faces. Her laugh was infectious and her advice was sound. Edie loved her students and always advocated for them. She was a best friend to all, loved her family with all her heart, and will be dearly missed.
Edie is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Johnny and Matthew, both of Kingsville; parents, Frank and Fita Rios of Kingsville; one brother, Frank Jr. (Ofie) of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Leticia (James) Noel of Kingsville; mother-in-law, Julie Mayorga of Kingsville; brothers-in-law, Peter (Diana), Rene (Melissa) and Rick Mayorga, all of Kingsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will take place from 5:45 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
