Howard Murchison, Jr.

On July 5, 2015 Howard Worth Murchison, Jr. ended his mortal life. He began his life on November 29, 1935 in Kingsville, Texas, the only child of Mary Slezinsky and Howard Worth Murchison, Sr., and the grandson of Mattie Bertha and Dawson Richard Murchison and Mary and Frank Slezinsky, all of Kingsville.
He is survived by his two children, Lesley Caron Murchison and Howard Worth "Trey" Murchison, III; three grandchildren, Shayna Lynn, Dawson Worth and Taryn Rhea; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his first cousins, Robert Pendergrass, Marie Armstrong, Dick Murchison, Travis Murchison, Susan Murchison Ivy, Ken Morris, Timothy Murchison and Mary Murchison Lane. He was uncle Howard or cousin Howard or just friend Howard to many others.
HWM, Jr. grew up in Kingsville and attended Texas A&I University where he received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Educational Administration. He also went on to continue his education at the University of Texas in Austin. His career included that of teacher, principal and superintendent. At the time of his death, he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marble Falls, Texas Association of School Administrators, Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers, Texas State Teachers Association and the National Rifle Association. During his life, he was also a member of the American Association of School Administrators, Rotary Club International and Phi Delta Kappa.
Everyone that knew him knew of his love of the outdoors and his devotion to his family. He will be missed.
Reception will take place before the funeral service at Dick Kleberg Park Recreation Center, Escondido Road, Kingsville, Texas.
Visitation will take place after 1:30.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim M. Curran officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
