Homero B. Silva, age 76, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born September 11, 1940 in Kingsville to Manuel Flores Silva Sr. and Aurora Buentello Silva. He worked for the King Ranch as an exercise jockey until the age of 21. He moved to California with his wife and worked as an exercise jockey and eventually became a horse trainer and jockey instructor. In 1973 he moved to Riviera, Texas as a horse trainer for the Santa Rosa Viejo Ranch. He moved back to Kingsville where he carried various jobs in the oil field business, S&C Auto Parts and C&A Service & Tires.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years of marriage, Lucia G. Silva of Bishop; three sons, Homero A. Silva (Annette) of Corpus Christi, Cesar M. Silva (Amanda) of Kingsville and Orlando A. Silva (Alma) of Corpus Christi; two brothers, Manuel Silva Jr. (Olga) of Houston, Texas and Humberto Silva (Raquel) of Kingsville; one sister, Yolanda Garcia (Hernan - deceased) of Kingsville; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Martin's Parish Hall, 504 East Ella Street, Kingsville. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at St. Martin's Parish Hall. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at St. Martin's Catholic Church, 715 North 8th Street, Kingsville.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
