Hector T. Garcia, son, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 9, 2024, at the age of 68. Born on September 27, 1956, Hector lived a life dedicated to service, compassion, and unwavering love for his family and friends.
He had a distinguished career in dentistry that spanned 40 years. For 18 of those years, he served with dedication and grace at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center, where he made a significant impact on the lives of many individuals.
He was more than just a dentist; he was a selfless beacon of hope and support. Friends and family cherished him for his genuine heart of gold and compassionate spirit, particularly towards the elderly and those with special needs. He possessed an extraordinary ability to listen—a trait that endeared him to many and forged deep connections throughout his life.
A proud alumnus of H.M. King High School, he graduated in 1974 before pursuing higher education at Texas A&I Kingsville, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry in 1978. He further honed his skills at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, from which he graduated in 1984. His professional journey was marked by a blend of diligence and a profound commitment to improving the lives of those he served.
In addition to his remarkable career, Hector enriched his life with a variety of hobbies and interests. He was a frequent visitor to the gym, finding joy in physical fitness. His love for nature was evident in his gardening, as he often referred to his plants as his babies. A dedicated workaholic, he found satisfaction in architecture and home remodeling; he was perpetually engaged in projects and improvements around his own home. He found delight in woodworking and was known to enjoy shopping and visiting with family and friends. One of his favorite pastimes was watching "This Old House," reflecting his passion for building and craftsmanship.
His warmth and compassion touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His traits of being a great listener and his willingness to engage with others demonstrated the core values that defined him.
His impact on his profession, his community, and his loved ones will resonate through the countless lives he touched during his remarkable journey.
He is survived by his mother, Alma Trevino Garcia; siblings Deborah T. Garcia (Harold D. Williams) and Larry T.
