Harold Nixon

Harold "H" Hugh Nixon, 88, of Bishop, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2015, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with a long illness.
A graveside service will be held to honor H's life on Saturday, March 28th at 11:00 AM at Bishop Restland Memorial Park Cemetery. Keith Bellamy, formerly of Bishop, will be officiating the service. A barbecue will be held at the American Legion in Bishop following the service.
H was born on November 14, 1926 in Taft, Texas and grew up in Odem, Texas. He graduated from Odem High School and served in the Army Air Force during WWII. After receiving his pilot's license, H enjoyed many years of flying and after retirement from Celanese in 1983, he volunteered thousands of hours at the Bishop Airport where he also served on the board of directors. H was an avid gardener, bowler and motorcycle and aviation enthusiast. He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Sue Nixon, his daughters, Janet Lee and husband Bobby of Canyon Lake, Texas, Suzanne Nester and husband, Chris of League City, Texas and Mary Cummings and husband, Bud of La Porte, Texas; his son, Randy Nixon of Bishop, Texas; 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom T. and Lydia Nixon; his 2 brothers, Jack and Joe Nixon, and his eldest daughter, Deborah Diane Nixon.
