Gloria Maldonado

Gloria Maldonado, a beloved caretaker and homemaker, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, in Pasadena, Texas, at the age of 86. Born on April 16, 1938, on the King Ranch Santa Gertrudis division in Kingsville, Texas, Gloria dedicated her life to nurturing her family and instilling kindness, love, and compassion into the hearts of all who knew her.

Gloria was devoted to her faith and never missed attending Sunday Mass. She will be remembered for her warm personality, characterized by her kindness, intelligence, and caring nature. She had a special love for her grandchildren, doing everything within her power to support and uplift them throughout their lives. Gloria's passion for family was strong, as she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Her spirit shone brightly in her interactions with them, fostering a sense of belonging and love within the family.

In addition to her role as a devoted family member, Gloria was also a talented writer, with two of her poems published, a testament to her creativity and artistic expression. She enjoyed writing poetry and songs, sharing her thoughts and feelings with those around her.

Gloria's heart was mirrored in the countless individuals who called her family. She cherished her spouse, Guadalupe Maldonado, and nurtured the bonds with her son, Rodolfo Garza, along with her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Cantu Garza. Gloria's lineage expanded proudly as she embraced her grandchildren—Melanie, Stephanie, Natalie, Rodolfo Jr., and Valarie—each one a testament to her legacy. Her family tree branches further into the tender hearts of 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, all of whom carry glimmers of her spirit within them. The laughter of these cherished children echoes the joyous love she poured into their lives.

Her journey also echoed the memories of those she rejoined; Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Mamerto Rosas, and her mother, Juanita Martinez. Her siblings, Consuelo, Maria, Mamerto Jr., Juventino, Cristobal, Antonia, Manualito, and SanJuanita, await her in the embrace of eternity, adding to the bittersweet tapestry of her life.

Gloria Maldonado’s life will be commemorated with a visitation on October 8, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00PM. A mass in her honor will be held on October 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, also located in Kingsville.

As we reflect on the life of this kind and loving woman, may we find comfort in the memories she created and the lives she touched with her gentle spirit. Gloria Maldonado will always hold a cherished place in the hearts of her family and friends and will continue to inspire generations to come.
