Gleniss L. Cude passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, of a sudden illness. Glen was born to Bonnie Opal and Roy Bruce Cude on April 12, 1927. He was raised in Devine, Texas, until his family moved in 1943 to Freer, Texas, with the oilfield. He joined the military shortly afterwards, and served at the end of World War II. He married Ida Belle Wisian of Robstown, Texas, in 1952. He was a resident of Bishop, Texas, for over 50 years. Glen owned and operated a machine shop until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and outdoor activities for many years and later developed an avid love for gardening. He loved knowledge, and enjoyed sharing all his knowledge, whether about history, machine shop practices, hunting, or gardening with anyone who shared an interest.
Glen is survived by his wife, Ida of Bishop daughter, Margaret John Kelly of Bishop granddaughters, Kacie Marie Kelly and Jessica Erin Kelly, both of Bishop sisterinlaw, Olivia Cude of Freer, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bruce Orville Olivia Cude and Vernon Billie Joe Cude.
Visitation will take place Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the TurcottePiper Mortuary from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Matthew Ulmer officiating. Burial will follow in Bishop at Restland Cemetery.
