Glenda Garcia, a beloved mother, aunt, sister and cherished friend to all, passed away on September 17th, 2023, surrounded by family. The unconditional love she selflessly shared with every living person, animal and beyond, will truly be missed. Born in Kingsville, Texas, on July 1st, 1969, Glenda blessed this world with her presence for a mere 54 years. She dedicated her life to helping and loving others, being her mother’s primary caregiver until her passing, and sharing the word of God. She was a strong pillar of her church community, Jesus is the Rock Church, where she loved to be involved with every activity and assist in any way she possibly could.
Glenda held many friends far and wide not only in Texas but from across the nation. The love and kindness she shared through her voice was remarkable. Countless of people loved speaking with Glenda as hours felt like only minutes with her. In an instant, one simple story could change to an entire novel. She ensured you knew everything. Due to her kindness and honesty, this led her to be the “go-to person” for many friends and family members alike who needed advice. Quite frankly, Glenda was once told by a former pastor that she would “speak with trees if they would be able to respond”. Glenda loved sharing about the accomplishments of those she loved, regardless of the place, time, or circumstance. Every second she was mentioning a different niece or nephew.
Beyond her kind and loving personality, Glenda had numerous hobbies and activities such as fishing, coloring artwork, playing boardgames, videogames, shoe collecting, spending time with family, and so much more. She was a “diehard Dallas Cowboys fan” who loved watching every single game whether win or lose. Despite her physical limitations, she was an active person who loved trying new things, places, and sharing her time with her loved ones.
Within the last few months, she met the love of her life, Michael. Each moment they shared together will be forever remembered and cherished among her closest loved ones. Her strong faith and will in the Lord showed others to not take life for granted, to only give praise and thank God for each day one may be blessed with.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents Urbano Gilberto Garcia and Anita Gonzalez Garcia and her great-nephew Nathaniel Caldera.
Glenda leaves behind her niece and nephew whom she loved as her own, Jennifer Lee Mendez and Ryan Herrera; her brothers Gilbert (Dolores) Garcia, Arnoldo (Janie) Garcia; her sisters Noelia Ramirez, Sylvia Tejeda, Diana (Alex) Garcia Lara; her boyfriend Michael Pena; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation service will be held at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary on September 21, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. During this time, friends and loved ones will have the opportunity to pay their respects and share cherished memories of Glenda. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 PM, providing solace and comfort through shared prayers and reflections. A burial will be held at a later date.
May Glenda's gentle spirit find eternal peace, and may her legacy serve as a reminder of the power of love in our lives.
Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours. But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” – Mark 11:22-25 NLT
