Glen Edward Barbier, 67, former resident of Kingsville, died Saturday, April 2, 2016, in Austin.
Glen was born August 28, 1948 in Alexandria LA to Norman and Nelwyn Barbier. He graduated from La Marque High School in 1966 and moved to Kingsville to attend Texas A&I University. There he studied Music & Radio/TV Broadcasting. Kingsville is where he met the love of his life Susan Goode. They were married in 1971. He was an involved member of the Kingsville business community as a DJ at KINE radio, manager of Kingsville Laundry & Cleaners, and owner of Kingsville Insurance Agency. He served Kingsville, a city he loved, by being a member of the volunteer fire department, serving on the board of directors at PowerHouse, and serving and attending the local church. He was the most compassionate caregiver to Susan during her battle with cancer, until she passed away in 1998.
He lived in Kingsville for 38 years until he moved to Austin to be near his children & grandchildren. He absolutely loved Thursday night dinners to see the grandkids. While in Austin, he was a connector, a networker, and a faithful part of Mosaic Church. He was an amazing father, proud grandfather, and friend to many.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Susan; his father, Norman; and sister, Diana.
He is survived by his mother, Nelwyn Barbier of Houston; brother, Paul Barbier of Tonasket WA; his sister, Ann (Berkley) Glass of Houston; daughter, Jill (Randy) Moore of Austin; son, Scott Barbier of New Orleans, LA; grandchildren, Reagan, Ella and Wyatt Moore of Austin; and many many dear family and friends.
There will be a visitation at Turcotte Mortuary in Kingsville on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 4-6pm.
A Celebration of Glen's Life in Austin will be at a later date.
