Gilberto R. San Miguel, age 75, a resident of Riviera, Texas passed away Sunday, February 21, 2016 in Kingsville. He was born March 17, 1940 in Ricardo, Texas to Francisco Pompa San Miguel and Olivia Recio San Miguel. Mr. San Miguel was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force retiring after 20 years of service. Afterwards, he was employed for the Kleberg County Sheriff's Department. He later worked with the Texas A&I University Police Department and the Kenedy County Sheriff's Department.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda San Miguel; parents; two brothers, Robert San Miguel and Francisco "Frank" San Miguel; and two sisters, Adela Reyna and Adelfina San Miguel.
Gilberto is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years of marriage, Shizuko San Miguel of Kingsville; one son, Gilberto San Miguel Jr. and wife Sandra of Kingsville; one daughter, Lucinda Latimer and husband Lee of Austin, Texas; one sister, Adelaida Ortegon of Bishop, Texas; and three grandchildren, Lauren Latimer, Sergio San Miguel and Jaime San Miguel.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Thenan as celebrant. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
