Gertrude Cortez

Gertrude "Trudy" Munoz Cortez, passed away on Christmas day, December 25, 2016 in Tomball, Texas with her family by her side. She was born August 4, 1928 in Riviera, Texas to parents Nazario Munoz Sr. and Adela Guerra. She worked for NAS Kingsville/Security as an executive assistant for 34 years until her retirement in 1995. She then moved to Tomball to be with her son and family. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by both her parents; brother, Nazario Munoz Jr.; sister, Anastacia M. Martinez ; two sister in laws, Arcelia Mendietta Munoz and Odelia Basaldua Munoz; brother in law Arturo Garcia Sr.
She is survived by one son, Adrian M. Cortez (Sandra Hicks Cortez), brothers and sisters, Enrique Munoz (Dora), Jesus M. Munoz (Adelita), Manuela M. Garcia, and two grandchildren, Sandra Mikail Cortez and Adrian Laytin Cortez.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, with the Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
