Gerald "Jigger" Joseph Yaklin, age 83, a resident of Riviera, Texas passed away Friday, March 18, 2016 in Loyola Beach, Texas due to an unfortunate accident. He was born April 4, 1932 in Vattmann, Texas to Cornelius "Neal" Yaklin and Hilda Forstoff Yaklin. He owned and operated his barber shop for over 40 years followed by many years of rental property ownership. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion and a member of Annaville Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He loved and enjoyed traveling as well as being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Armella "Nook" Yaklin of Riviera; seven children, Jimmy (Katie) Yaklin, Eddie (Charis) Yaklin, Donny Yaklin, Diane Yaklin, Danny Yaklin, Dennis (Lynn) Yaklin and Marty Yaklin; siblings, Gene Yaklin - deceased, Phil (Mary Ann) Yaklin, Louis (Chinna) Yaklin, Leonard (Jean) Yaklin, Dale (Nita) Yaklin, Woody Yaklin, Anna Marie (Jim) Grossman and Kenny (Trish) Yaklin; sister-in-law, Lavern Yaklin; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Robert Simmons officiating. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will follow at Our Lady of Consolation Catholic Cemetery, Vattmann, Texas.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
