Gary Vassaur

Dr. Gary Doc Vassaur passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at the age of 48 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on August 18, 1966 in Corpus Christi, Texas, to W.R. Bill Vassaur and Bettie Roemer Vassaur of Bishop, Texas.
He, along with his family, moved to Bishop in 1976. Upon graduating from Bishop High School in 1984, he began his schooling at Texas AI University Kingsville. He then moved to Pasadena, Texas to attend Texas Chiropractic College where he obtained his doctorate degree in 1993. He moved back to Bishop in 1995 and soon opened Vassaur Chiropractic in Kingsville, Texas where he worked until his retirement in March, 2014.
Gary was a long time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Bishop, Texas where he was baptized, confirmed and married.
He coached Little League Baseball for many years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, making sausage, woodworking and welding. He was also the go to guy if anyone needed advice on how to do anything. If the barn door was open, there was always someone coming by to visit. Gary will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was present at many Texas AM Kingsville football games where he served as the team Chiropractor.
He is preceded in death by his father W.R. Bill Vassaur, grandparents, Dr. Gustav and Ernestine Roemer of Beeville, Texas and Adair and Evelyn Vassaur of Henryetta, Oklahoma.
Gary is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melanie Vassaur of Bishop, Texas two daughters Meaghan Dalton Curran of Corpus Christi, Texas and Morgan Vassaur of Corpus Christi, Texas one son Tanner Vassaur of Bishop, Texas mother Bettie Vassaur of Bishop, Texas two sisters Valerie Randy Schulze of Bishop, Texas and Beverly Vassaur of Bishop, Texas nephew Derek Schulze of Kingsville, Texas and niece Brianne Vincent of San Marcos, Texas as well as a large extended family and many close friends.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at St .John Lutheran Church, 301 E. Main in Bishop, Texas. The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, 301 E. Main Street in Bishop, Texas. Burial will follow in Bishop at Restland Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jim Gillespie, Darren Horner, Darren Guess, Elmo Jr. Kieschnick, Fred Gorbet and Mike Webb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church, The American Cancer Society or a charity of ones choice in Garys name.
Services are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
