Garey Lee Berry passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the age of 79. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era, protected his community as a local Police Officer, worked under the National Security Agency during Desert Storm before transferring to the Central Intelligence Agency, served as Secret Service to Vice President George H. W. Bush in Paris and President Carter in Rome, and was a Criminal Analyst for his local Task Force. Garey was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend; and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George A. Berry and Myrtice Shepard Berry; brother, Roger Berry and twin brother, Jerry R. Berry.
Among those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Gloria R. Berry; children, Bernadette I. Berry, Christopher I. (Maribel A.) Berry, and Anthony J. Berry; sister, Bobbie D. Berry; brother, Louis Berry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM; with military honors at 3:00 PM and a chapel service to begin at 3:15 PM. Services will conclude that afternoon.
