Frank Horlock, Jr.

Frank P. Horlock, Jr. passed away peacefully on December 5, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on October 19, 1925 in Navasota, Texas. He was a Beer Distributor, Investor, as well as a charity and community leader. Frank was past Chairman of the Board and CEO of the Pearl Brewing Company. He was a native Texan who lived in Houston most of his life. He was a Past-President of the Houston Wholesale Beer Distributor's Association. Additionally he served on the Boards of Capital National Bank of Houston, Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Edward H. White Memorial Youth Center in Seabrook, Edna Gladney Home in Ft. Worth, Houston Area Diabetes Association, Houston and Texas Division of the American Cancer Society. Frank was the founder of the Harris County 4-H Horse Club, member of the Young Presidents Organization, Agriculture Committee of the Houston Chamber of Commerce and lifetime Vice-President of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. He was a co-founder of the Cattle Barons Ball and hosted the first one at their once owned Rio Paisano Ranch in Riviera. He was co-founder of the South Texas Charity Weekend, an event that has raised over $10 million to help support Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg, Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute and HALO Flight and Kleberg Ranch Management Institute.
Frank was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Grace Horlock; his son, Frank Prescott "Pres" Horlock; and his daughter, Cathryn "Cissy" Horlock Taub.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Shannon Horlock (Patricia) of South Dakota, one granddaughter, Cathryn H. "Cate" Taub of Austin, Texas; and son-in-law, Casey C. Taub of Houston.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas, with a farewell memorial reception at the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Center immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Cissy Horlock Taub Womens Center at Christus Spohn Kleberg Hospital, 1311 General Cavazos Blvd., Suite 202, Kingsville, Texas 78363.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
