Francisco Q. Devera Jr., age 80, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in Houston, Texas. He was born June 26, 1935 in San Fabian, Pangasinan, Philippines to Francisco de Vera Sr. and Rosita Quinto de Vera. Mr. Devera served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and retired in 1971. Afterwards he obtained his BBA at Texas A&I University in accounting and MBA at Texas A&M - Kingsville. He taught at Robstown High School as a business educator. He also was an adjunct instructor at Georgia Military College and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, both at Naval Air Station, Kingsville. Francisco was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Teachers National Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association, Robstown Teachers Association, The American Legion (Finance Officer), Veterans of Foreign Wars (Quartermaster) and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus (Financial Secretary). He was inducted as Honorary Member of the National Honor Society. He also was a member of the Corpus Christi Roadrunners Club since 2002. Mr. Devera was a member of St. Gertrude's Catholic Church and Fil-Am Club.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years of marriage, Ma. Consuelo "Choly" A. Devera of Kingsville; four daughters, Catherine Gastauer (Terry) of La Vernia, Texas, Charlene Valceschini (Clark) of Hanford, California, Caroline Abalos Devera of Victoria, Texas and Marilyn Devera Gomez (Jorge) of Katy, Texas; four brothers; four sisters; and 14 grandchildren.
Visitation will take place after 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church with Fr. James Stembler as celebrant. Military Honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will take place outside of the church immediately after the Mass. A private burial of cremains will take place at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas at a later date.
