Francisco Castaneda Jr.

Mr. Francisco Castaneda Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2016, on the same day his beloved wife Alicia Munoz Castaneda passed away on December 9, 2013.
He is also preceded in death by his beloved son, Fernando Javier Castaneda.
Mr. Castaneda is survived by his four daughters, Norma Castaneda from Carlsbad, NM; Veronica Garza (Jaime) of Laredo, Texas; Melissa Trevino (Erasto) of Laredo, Texas; and Laura Castaneda of Kingsville, Texas. He is also survived by his two sons, Victor Castaneda of Kingsville, Texas, and Frank Castaneda III of San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. Castaneda was blessed and enjoyed his twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Our Dad was a man of few words, but his heart was filled with joy when he was surrounded by his family.
Dad graduated from Laredo Junior College with an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He retired after 37 years of service from the federal government service from Laredo Air Force Base and Kingsville Naval Air Station. He was a Scheduler and Cost Estimator Planner with the Public Words Department at the Kingsville NAS.
He concurrently served 27 years with the US Naval Reserve and was also a Korean War Veteran.
For enjoyment Dad's past time was riding on his John Deer tractor, watching NFL football and basketball games, and was a true fan of Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and Price is Right.
Dad was a strong believer in higher education, educating 5 of his 7 children at a university level. His legacy of higher education continues with his grandchildren.
Dad will truly be missed by all of his family.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday December 11, 2016 with 7:00 p.m. rosary to be recited at the Turcotte Piper Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday December 12, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlin Cemetery, with the Kleberg Veteran Honor Detail Team providing military honors. Service entrusted to Turcotte Piper Mortuary.
