Floyd Nix

Floyd Otis Nix, age 86, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and a former resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013. He was born in Kingsville, Texas on May 28, 1927 to Homer and Berniece Nix, graduated from H.M. King High School, and after service in the United States Army during the Korean War, attended Texas A I University in Kingsville. He went to work for Humble Oil and Refining Company Exxon where he began as a roughneck and worked his way to being a drilling superintendent. His work took him all over Texas, Venezuela, and Alaskas North Slope. After retirement from Exxon, he consulted for Headington Oil Company until September of 2011. He worked in the oil patch all of his life and loved every moment, every challenge the work presented and the lifelong friends he made.
Mr. Nix was an active member of Saint Bartholmews Episcopal Church, Corpus Christi.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Eileen Stauffer Nix, his parents, Homer Austin and Berniece Hayes Nix his son, Phillip Austin Nix, his great grandson, Chandler Nix, and his brother, Kenneth Arnold Nix.
He is survived by his children, Cecelia Bill Shannon of Rockport, Sarah Jack Wardinsky of Belgrade, Montana, Katy Jim Hada of Houston grandchildren, Elizabeth Ferris of Belgrade, Montana, Samuel Austin Nix of Marble Falls, Rachael Allbrecht of Tuscon, Arizona, Lisa Shireman of Marble Falls, Anna Hada, Cecelia Hada, and Jack Hada of Houston, and 7 greatgrandchildren. He is also survived by his loving sistersinlaw, Mary Lou Stauffer of Austin and Bobbie Nix of Kingsville, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and animal companions, Paco and Dobie.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2013 at TurcottePiper Mortuary, Kingsville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2013 at Chamberlain Cemetery, Kingsville. Rev. Sean Maloney will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bartholomews Episcopal Church, 622 Airline, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412, Pee Wees Pet Adoption World Sanctuary, Inc., 1307 Saratoga, Corpus Christi, Texas 78417, or to the charity of your choice.
