Evelyn Dean

Evelyn Nix Dean, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 at her home in Kingsville, Texas. Evelyn was the daughter of L.D. and Lillie Nix.
Evelyn graduated from H.M. King High School and attended Texas A&I. In 1941, she married Albert H. Dean, who later retired as Lt. Cmdr. from the US Navy. Mrs. Dean was employed by the Carla Modeling Agency working in the Miami and Palm Beach, Florida areas. Mr. and Mrs. Dean built, owned and operated The Jamaican Hotel on Ft. Lauderdale Beach for many years.
Evelyn also spent many years as secretary for the Florida Power and Light Company before becoming the Treasurer of the Al Dean Construction Company that she founded with her husband in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She also spent the past several years as a land developer in the Ricardo area.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star, San Antonio Chapter and the Epsilon Society, as well as a current member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsville.
Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Doris McNeil, Connie Clarke and Darlene Wright; her brother, Harrel Nix; grandchildren, Dawn Hensley, Denise Trotta and Al Dean III (Sonny); as well as 5 great-grandchildren, Brooke Hensley, Falon Hensley, Tyler Trotta, Chelsea Dean and Treb Dean.
Public visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel in Kingsville. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Lay Chaplain Frank Baumann officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Chamberlain Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent in her name to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 751, Kingsville, TX 78364.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
