Eva Rivas

Eva Mendez Rivas, 82, passed away on March 16, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on February 2, 1939 in Mission, Texas to Candida Gutierrez and Salome Mendez Sr.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesus Paiz Rivas; and son, Antonio “Tony” Rivas.

Eva is survived by her children, Rosie (David) Vela, Norma Vela (Pete Aguilar), Jesus “Jesse” Rivas, Jr., Carlos Rivas, and Estella Rivas; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers, Salome (Frances) Mendez, Jr., Benito (Gloria Compian) Mendez, Juan (Ninfa Requena) Mendez; sisters, Martina Mata and Maria Guadalupe (Eddie) Rodriguez; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
