Eva Nell Rodenberry Elliott, 83, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Monday, August 15, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born August 12, 1933 in Kerrville, Texas to John Pinkney Rodenberry and Eva Tempe Boyde Rodenberry. She moved to Lockhart at a young age, became a Christian and attended the First Baptist Church and continued to grow in her faith and love of the Lord.
She attended school at LHS and she was a member of the National Honor Roll Society in 1951. After finishing high school, she worked as a secretary for the home demonstration agent and county agent. She worked for Motor Carrier Insurance Company in Austin, Texas as a policy checker. She was also a member of the JCS of Bishop and Beta Sigma Chi. She worked at the Texas A&I College and Kingsville Naval Base.
Her pleasures most of all were her family and loving her husband Lyndon and son John. She loved all kinds of animals and treated them as part of her family.
Eva Nell is survived by her husband, Lyndon Elliott of 63 years; her son, John (Lisa) Nolter Elliott of Bishop; her nephew, David (Barbara) Brooks of Arizona; her nieces, Cheri (James) Lee of San Antonio, Texas and Anna Margaret (Tom) Price of Kerrville, Texas; many great-nephews and nieces; and many great-great-nephews and nieces. Eva Nell was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Tempe Rodenberry, dad, John Pinkley Rodenberry; sisters, Margaret Lorene (Paul) Adams, Betty Jean Brooks Hill and Annie Ruth Rodenberry who died before the age of two.
Public visitation will take place at the First Baptist Church, 311 East Fifth Street, Bishop, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 for the immediate family and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for the public. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike O'Neill officiating. Burial will follow in Bishop at Restland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 311 East Fifth Street, Bishop, Texas 78343 or to a charity of one's choice.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
