Eva M. Canals, 81, entered into eternal rest at her home on Saturday, March 16, 2019, in Kingsville, Texas. She was born on February 24, 1938 to Cleotilde and Jacinto Martinez.
She is survived by her children, Maria Elena (Joe), Israel Orta (Thelma), Ramiro Orta (Belinda), Belinda Garcia (Juan), and Rudy Orta (Candy) of Kingsville, Texas. Eddie Orta (Delia) from Refugio, Texas and Mario Orta (Lupita) of Ingelside, Texas. Glenda Masso (Anthony) of Boca Raton, Florida and Brenda Devine (Mark) of Ft. Meyers, Florida. She has 35 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. Two brothers, Eugenie and David Martinez and two sisters, Blanca Martinez and Dora Torres. She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel P. Orta, mother, Cleotilde Martinez and father Jacinto Martinez. One great grandson, Albert Davila, Jr.
Ms. Eva truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother and even better grandmother. She had a passion for cooking and was a very happy women. She could always be found with a smile that was very contagious. Her friends and family will always remember her as being a very kind person. She worked at the Kingsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center formally known as Canterbury Nursing Home for 20 years.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
