Eunice Smith

Eunice M. Smith 91, of Kingsville, Texas, died July 28, 2014.

Eunice Maybelle Ferguson was born March 2, 1923 in Thompson, Geauga County, Ohio to James Alonzo Ferguson and Nellie Frances Edick Ferguson. She married Charles Otis Smith, also a native of Northeastern Ohio on May 7, 1944. Charles was stationed all over the country while serving in the United States Navy, and he and Eunice enjoyed traveling and learning about new places and people. They made traveling fun for their children by learning about new places ahead of time, and talking with their kids and playing travel games with them. After Charles died of a heart attack in 1972, four days before their 28th wedding anniversary, Eunice decided to remain in Kingsville. She was well known for her kindness, generosity, and compassion and consistently reaching out to those in need.

Eunice is survived by her sister, Ruby Ann Zuzek, of Madison, Ohio, her son, James Lee Smith of Kingsville, her daughter, Janice Leilani Smith, also of Kingsville, and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Otis Smith, her sons Richard Charles Smith, Gerald Robert Smith, Gary Donald Smith, and her daughter, Jeanne Anne Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints with Bishop Darin Hoskisson officiating. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery, Kingsville, where Eunice will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Charles, and near her precious daughter Jeanne Anne, who died July 28, 1964.
