Eugene W. Stringer, age 91, a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and a former longtime resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born December 20, 1923 in Pelly, Texas to Oscar Worth Stringer and Lily Mae Hulme Stringer. Mr. Stringer was employed at Celanese Corporation retiring after 37 ½ years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Bishop. Mr. Stringer was Past Master of Bishop Masonic Lodge and member of Chamberlain Masonic Lodge, Kingsville. Eugene was also a member of American Legion, Bishop. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Stringer of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Shirley Hendrickson (Larry) of Tyler, Texas; two sons, Ron Stringer (Lynda) of Corpus Christi, Texas and Jack Stringer (Eileen) of Point Blank, Texas; four grandchildren, Sonya LaFrance (Warren), Collin Williams, Carrie Stringer and Christopher Stringer; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Clif Abshier officiating. Masonic services will take place after the funeral service. Military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will take place outside of the mortuary immediately after the Masonic Service. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery, Corpus Christi, Texas.
