It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Esteban Liandro Hernandez, a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and member of the Kingsville community.
Esteban was born on June 24, 1957, in Falcon, Texas to his parents Tomas Hernandez and Maria F. Hernandez. He dedicated his life to public service and worked as a foreman for the city of Kingsville's water department. He served the community diligently for 25 years before retiring. After his retirement, he continued to work as a backhoe operator for Marco Jimenez. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his job, Esteban was truly an invaluable asset to the city and its residents.
In his free time, Esteban enjoyed fishing and hunting. However, it was mechanical work that truly captured his interest and passion. He delighted in tinkering with machines and finding solutions to various mechanical challenges. His skill and dedication in this field were admired by many.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Esteban will be remembered as a kind-hearted and generous individual. He was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to his friends, who meant very much to him. Esteban cherished these relationships and made it a priority to support those he held dear.
Esteban is preceded in death by his parents: Tomas Hernandez and Maria F. Hernandez.
Esteban leaves behind a grieving but grateful family and his loss is deeply felt by those who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Cylinda Hernandez, who was his true soul mate and loved him unconditionally; his children: Micaela Hernandez, Esther (Marco) Balboa, Sarah (Roy) Rodriguez, and Brenda Hernandez; as well as his siblings: Sandra Quintanilla (Danny Mendietta), Tomas Luis (Thelma) Hernandez, Elma Celia Hernandez, and Joe Henry Hernandez. Additionally, he had a very special bond with Marco Jimenez, and his nephews Leroy and Julio Quintanilla, and will be dearly missed by his 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The memory of Esteban will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His gentle demeanor, warm smile, and willingness to help others will be remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.
Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, held on November 7, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, followed by a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass celebrating Esteban's life will be held on November 8, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Kingsville. Following the Mass, Esteban will be laid to rest in Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.
During this difficult time, may we find solace in the memories we shared with Esteban. His legacy of kindness and selflessness will continue to inspire us all.
