Esmeralda “Ezzie” Gomez, 69, beloved daughter, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, great aunt, and friend was called to her eternal resting place on January 25, 2024. She entered this world on July 18, 1954 in Kingsville, TX, born to Manuel and Janie Gomez. 

 Ezzie as she was known by many of her co-workers and friends was known for her professional career as having employment that helped all people. Her career opportunities spanned from working the Radiation Department at Christus Spohn, to having stints with Police Departments in Driscoll, Bishop, and Kingsville as a dispatcher. Ezzie kept part-time jobs through her lifetime to be sure to help provide for her entire family during times of need. She loved her family immensely and unconditionally and the time spent with each of them was priceless. She was an avid sports fan and cheered for her beloved Kansas City Chiefs, but more importantly supported her nephews that were coaching various sports with utmost passion.

She is survived by her son Christopher Jason Gomez; brother Pete (Misty) Gomez; nephews Terrance Gomez,  Michael Gonzalez (Judi), Mark Gonzalez (Dorine), Matthew Gonzalez (Nena), Martin Gonzalez (Rhonda); grandnieces Danielle Barnes (Jordan), Kristen Gonzalez, Maranda Gonzalez, Meaghan Gonzalez, Alyssa Gonzalez, Sarina Gonzalez, and Bryana Canales; grandnephews Jordan Gonzalez, Mark Gonzalez Jr.,  Matthew Gonzalez Jr., Adley Canales (Anyssa), and Caleb Canales; great-grandnephews Luke Thomas Barnes, Kal Agustin Barnes, and Ryan Canales; great-grandniece Kora Canales; and numerous extended family members.

Esmeralda “Ezzie” Gomez will be missed by many every day!  Her pallbearers will be Issac Camacho, Matthew Gonzalez, Jr., Jordan Gonzalez, and Mark Gonzalez, Jr. On Monday, January 29th visitation for family will begin at 35:00 PM and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM at Turcotte-Piper Funeral Home. The mass will commence at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at St. James Mission Church in Driscoll, Texas, with burial to follow at De La Luz Cemetery in Driscoll, Texas.

Although we mourn her loss deeply, let us also remember the joy Esmeralda "Ezzie" Gomez brought to our lives and celebrate the remarkable person that she was. Her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in eternal peace.
