Esau Torres, age 75, passed away at Loyola Hospital in Chicago, IL on May 3, 2024. Esau was raised in a Christian home in Alice, Texas to Isaac and Norma Torres. Growing up he excelled at Alice High School as both a student and athlete, most notably playing football. Eventually, he started a family of his own in Austin, Texas and held a successful career continuously advancing in the LIttelfuse manufacturing business and developing strong, lasting friendships within the company.
While he enjoyed sports throughout his life, especially following the Chicago Whitesox, Esau also had a profound love of music. Throughout the decades, he amassed a museum's worth of vinyl. tapes and CD's of all genres. He also was an appreciator of film and comics, which he equally collected with pride and joy. He transitioned well in the modern age and would carry his vast library of music and movies with him between business and travels.
Esau was not only a collector but also a creator of music. After retiring from the corporate world, he continued to dedicate himself to music. He built a home recording studio in Chicago, played guitar, sang, and wrote his own songs.
Above all, family was of the most importance to Esau. He would make it a point to tell them that he loved them as often as possible, sometimes with a hug but most frequently with a text saying, "I love you".
Carolyn Anne Torres, his wife who he leaves behind, was the love of his life whom he loved with all his heart. He gave her the strength to see the positive in situations, always approaching any challenge with both wisdom and laughter. His artistic eye found beauty in everything around him, which continues to be the inspiration of his three children. The epitome of a truly loving and caring father, his sons, Ehud and Othneil, and his daughter Elon were his world.
Esau also was a devoted grandfather of Jayda Herrera, Trinity, Talen and Lucas Torres. He left many nurturing memories with his grandchildren who will one day be able to pass on as future generations move forward.
Esau is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, younger sister Zelda Turcotte; nephew Michael Isaac, and father Isaac Torres, who raised him with support, unconditional faith, and godly love. As a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son, Esau holds a special place in all their hearts. To all the rest of his family and friends he will be fondly remembered as someone easily making friends, but more importantly making everyone feel welcomed and loved.
Esau was preceded in death by his mother Norma Torres, who waited for him at the Door of Heaven.
A memorial service to be held in Stonegate Baptist Church in Alice, Texas on June 2, 2024, at 4:00 PM.
