Ernesto B. Ybarra

July 17th, 2024 the gates of heaven swung open wide to welcome Ernie. Jesus wrapped his arms around him and carried him home.

Growing up Ernie found passion in playing sports while attending Memorial Jr. High. It was then when Ernie met his junior high sweetheart, Mary Chapa Ybarra. He played football while she was a cheerleader, the rest was history. Ernie was a loving husband to Mary for 41 years and a beloved father, to daughter Anissa Ybarra.

One of Ernie’s favorite hobbies was fishing. He and his daughter would join fishing tournaments, bringing home awards.

He found joy in being an owner to his 14-year-old long haired chihuahua, Bunny.

Ernie enjoyed watching sports. A few of his favorite teams were the Houston Cougars, Houston Texans, and Astros. He especially loved to watch the Rockets after his daughter became a cheerleader for them. Ernie loved watching his western shows, as well as listening to his oldies music while working on his yard and watering his grass. He was a simple man who did things his way. He found happiness and value in the things that really mattered in life. He had a profound love for his family. Ernie was an extremely hard-working man with a generous spirit and heart who would do anything for those he loved.

Ernie is reunited in heaven with his parents Amadeo and Felisa B. Ybarra. His grandparents Amadeo and Ana Maria Ybarra. His siblings Nancy Ybarra Mendoza and Robert Ybarra.

Ernie is survived by his wife Mary Ybarra, his daughter Anissa Ybarra, Juris Doctor, and his little boy, Bunny Ybarra (dog.) As well as his sisters Rosalind (Manuel) Guerra and Cathy (Juan B.) Garza. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

There are no words that could do the caliber of man Ernie was justice. Those of you who had the privilege to know him understand. It is an understatement to say that he will be deeply missed by all who love him, but the Lord Jesus Christ gives us hope that we will be reunited again.

A holy rosary will be recited at 12:30pm on Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Martins Catholic Church, with a visitation at 1:00 pm on the same day, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 2:00pm. A rite of committal and interment 3:00 p.m. at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery, Kingsville, TX.
