Ernestine Schonefeld

Ernestine Baldridge Schonefeld passed peacefully at the age of 90 on June 18, 2021, in Kyle, TX.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  Ernestine enjoyed spending time with her family, had a strong faith, enjoyed reading the bible, attending prayer groups, playing bridge and dominoes, and dancing of all kinds.  She was a homemaker and later in life worked for Farm Bureau Insurance.

Born in Springfield, CO, on July 24, 1930, her family later moved to Colorado Springs. She married John F. Schonefeld on January 13, 1950, in the Springs and later moved to Kingsville, TX.

She is preceded in death by her husband John; parents, Ernest and Myrtle Baldridge; brother, Don; sister, Doris Dove; grandson, Jonathan Schonefeld; and son-in-law, Jim Lang.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jim and Jay; daughters, Jean Scales (Dennis), Janet Lang, Joette Barden (Lee), and Jule Sheppard (Jim); grandchildren, Justin, Casey, Jaci Crawford (Daniel), Jennifer Eguia (Tino), Nick Scales (Niki), Jessica Scales, Jason Lang (Angie), Joe Lang (Melissa), Jerrell Diaz (Willie), Jarrett Barden, and Jordan Siders (Chris); grand daughter-in-law, Alyssa; 12 great-grandchildren, Justin, Grayson Crawford, Erin and Henry Eguia, Jacob, and Kasey Lang, Gabriel, Olivia and Riley Lang, Jillian Diaz, and Braydon Siders; sisters, JoAnn Goldsmith from Arizona and Peggy Kastner from Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 25, 2021, at St. Gertrude the Great Catholic Church.  A Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
