Ernest Martinez

Ernest Ernie C. Martinez Jr., age 70, a resident of Houston, Texas and a former longtime resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Sunday, August 10, 2014 in Houston. He was born April 11, 1944 in Bishop to Ernest Martinez and Aurora Ayarzagoitia. Mr. Martinez was a professional truck driver with over 30 years in the industry. He was also an active teamsters member. Ernie loved collecting model trains, model cars and remote control airplanes. He truly enjoyed sharing his love of trains with others. He had a wonderful sense of humor, very fun loving, outgoinga true people person and very generous. He loved collecting the latest gadgets and was a loyal sharper image customer.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Delia Diaz children, Belinda Martinez, Ernesto Martinez, Veronica Batayneh and husband Husain and Natalie Flores four grandchildren, Ali and Hanna Batayneh, Joaquin and Rafael three stepchildren, Nicholas, Jason and Annesa and former wife, Gloria Lerma.
Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service was held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel. Burial followed in Bishop, Texas at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Services were entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
