Elvin Trahan "Frenchie", age 90, a resident of Bishop, Texas passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born October 15, 1926 in Rainy, Louisiana to Augustine Trahan and Eula Sonnier Trahan. Elvin was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Tucson C.L. 98 anti-aircraft pacific carrier and other military carriers. He was self-employed painter/carpenter for 40 years and was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Bishop, Texas. Elvin was known for his kindness and willingness to help anyone and everyone. He touched the hearts of many. Serving others is what made him the happiest. May God wrap His loving arms around him and may his legacy of kindness live on. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Evelyn Guidry.
Frenchie is survived by three daughters, Suzy Trahan Pugh of Bishop, Linda Trahan Kommer of Austin, Texas and Trisha Trahan of Midland, Texas; three sons, Richard Trahan of Bishop, Gerald Trahan of Austin, Texas and Ronnie Trahan of Bishop; one sister, Wilma Trahan of Louisiana; four grandchildren, Courtney Pugh, Shalyne Trahan, Justin Kommer and Samantha Kommer; several great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces and nephews of Louisiana.
Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2017 followed by a Memorial Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church with Fr. John Xaviour as celebrant. Burial with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Funeral Military Detail will follow in Bishop at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
