Elvia V. De Leon, 75, passed away on January 22, 2021 at home in Kingsville, Texas. She was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico on January 31, 1945 to Antonio Meza and Margarita Ochoa Meza. She was a hard-working housewife and dedicated mother. She was known to put family first no matter the cost. She was well known for her baking, cooking, and love of gardening. Elvia was ever calm and serene in her Catholic faith. From her childhood forward she had a special place in her heart for our Blessed Virgin of Guadalupe and Virgin of San Juan. Her character and strength were evident after her health issues began until her passing into heaven. She will be remembered as a selfless, altruistic wife and mother who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She was strong. She never complained and enjoyed life.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister (Consuelo Meza de Guzman) and brothers (Lucio and Juan Jose Meza Ochoa).
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Alejandro De Leon; children, Margarita De Leon, Alejandro (Michelle) De Leon Jr., Veronica(Evaristo) Alfaro, Rosa De Leon, Juan Adrian (Frances) De Leon; grandchildren Laura Ann McReynolds, Alexis De Leon, Joey Alfaro; great grandchildren Vaden, Romeo and her ever faithful companion Penny, her dog.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with the rosary to begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St Martins Catholic Church on Monday, February 1, 2021, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas.
