Elmira G. Mirelez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, caring sister, aunt and friend to many. She left this world too soon on April 14, 2022 at the age of 78 surrounded by her loved ones.
Elmira was born in San Diego, TX to Guadalupe and Catalina Garcia on March 22, 1944. She was raised in San Diego, TX where she attended elementary, junior high and high school. On a trip to Freer, Texas with her sister-in-law Lole, she met the love of her life, Rodolfo A. Mirelez. Rodolfo and Elmira married on May 31, 1964 in San Diego, TX. Elmira loved spending time with family, supporting her grandchildren at all their events, gardening, cooking and reading. She worked as a CO/XO secretary at the Kingsville Naval Air Station for 52 years until her retirement on January 1, 2016; Elmira and her husband raised three children who were her pride and joy.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 57 years, Rodolfo A. Mirelez; sons, Rudy Mirelez and Rick Mirelez; daughter, Rhonda (Martin) Gonzalez all of Driscoll; brothers, Roel (Lole) Garcia of San Diego, TX, Rudy Garcia of Austin, TX and Raul (Ana Lisa) Garcia of San Diego, TX; grandchildren, Adley (Anyssa) Canales of Marble Falls, TX, SSG Caleb Canales currently stationed in Fort Irwin, CA., Bryana Canales of Frisco, Tx, Paige Mirelez (Moe Metersky) of Dallas,Tx, Graisan (Darrius) Doucet of Fort Worth, Tx, and Ricky Munoz of Fort Worth; great- grandchildren, Kora Canales of Marble Falls, TX, Karter Metersky of Dallas, TX., Ace Doucet, and Sierra Munoz of Fort Worth, TX; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral procession will depart the funeral chapel on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 10:15 AM to St. James Catholic Church in Driscoll. TX, for a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Cementerio de la Luz in Driscoll, TX.
The family of Elmira would like to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, respiratory and physical therapists of Spohn Shoreline Hospital as well as National Nursing and Rehab Home Health that provided exceptional care to her.
