Edward Ed P. Sanders, age 76, a resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2013 in Kingsville. He was born July 1, 1937 in Franklin, Louisiana to Edward Sanders Sr. and Alice Mitchell Sanders. Ed was a faithful member of St. Gertrudes Catholic Church where he was actively involved as a Lector and St. Gertrudes Outreach Ministry. He was a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council 3389 and 4th Degree Faithful Navigator. He was involved with the Kingsville Housing Authority, Ministerial Alliance, Salvation Army and Toys for Tots. Ed was responsible for the acquisition and placement of memorial monuments at every cemetery within the Kingsville Deanery, recognizing unborn babies. So much of Eds life was serving God by tending to the needs of Gods neediest children. His smile and sense of humor were contagious.
He is survived by four daughters, Maria Guillory and Cynthia Sanders, both of Houston, Texas, Juliana Sanders of Beaumont, Texas and Joyce Bryant of Newark, New Jersey one son, Quintin Joseph Sanders of Beaumont two sisters, Shirley Harrison of Port Arthur, Texas and Catherine Smith of Houston one brother, Gerald Sanders of Port Arthur six grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will take place after 6:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, December 6, 2013 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church. Visitation will take place after 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at the Santa Gertrudis Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
