Dr. Pat T. Leelani

Dr. Pat Leelani (Sompetch Leelanitkul), a distinguished professor of Civil Engineering at A&M Kingsville for over 4 decades and master noodle maker, passed away on January 25, 2025.

A man of few words, Pat was known for his gentle presence and soft-spoken nature. Pat will be remembered by his family as a captivating storyteller, lover of Don Ho and a beautiful singer.

Pat lived to teach, he was dedicated and very proud of his profession. His legacy lives on through those he touched with his kindness, humor, and quiet wisdom.

Pat is preceded in death by his wife Dee (his white elephant); stepdaughter, Rhonda; stepson, Mark; and grandson, Larry.

He is survived by his stepdaughters Renee (Dave) and Roslyn; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; and a large loving family in Thailand.

The family will receive condolences on Saturday, March 29, 2025, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Light refreshments to follow.

Dr. Leelani’s family has established a scholarship fund for Kingsville A&M Civil Engineering students to carry on his legacy of charity, hard work, and compassion.
