Doris Ohlenbusch

Doris Ruth Weiss Ohlenbusch left her earthly home and entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Doris was born to Robert Fredrick and Elizabeth Mahlmann Weiss, in Brenham, Texas; she was the youngest of four children.

She was educated at Brenham schools and graduated from Brenham High School. After graduation she worked in the offices of the City of Brenham; and later she performed office work at Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas. During this time, she met her future husband, Herman Ohlenbusch. They were married in Brenham on June 10, 1956, while Herman was in the Navy stationed at Newport, Rhode Island. The couple moved to Kingsville in February of 1957 where Herman operated Kingsville Laundry and Cleaners; Doris later became the bookkeeper for the business. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and then became a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Dana Neumann; infant son, Paul Ohlenbusch; parents, Robert and Elizabeth Weiss; brother, Arthur Weiss; and sisters, Alice Kolwes and Elizabeth Stern.

Among those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 66 years, Herman Ohlenbusch; daughter, Carol (Mike) Chappell; son-in-law, Dave Neumann; grandchildren, Tim and Adam Chappell, Travis and Torey Neumann; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive condolences at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Kingsville, TX; with a funeral service celebrated at 11:00AM. A rite of committal and interment will take place on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 11:00AM at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, Corpus Christi, TX.
