Dominga A. Delgado, a beloved member of her family and community, was born on February 28, 1937, in Alice, Texas. She departed from this world on March 31, 2025, surrounded by her family, at the age of 88. Dominga was known for her extraordinary warmth, kindness, and the joyful spirit she brought to all who knew her.
Dominga cherished cooking, with her favorite meals including fried chicken and refried bean tacos that delighted her family. She was also passionate about making tortillas, a skill that brought both nourishment and love to her home. Her love for music was evident in her fondness for Tejano music, as she spent countless joyful moments singing and dancing to its vibrant rhythms. In addition to these interests, Dominga enjoyed spending time on social media, particularly Facebook, where she stayed connected with loved ones.
Throughout her life, Dominga delighted in simple pleasures: washing clothes and hanging them outside to dry, indulging in her favorite sodas, and enjoying tacos from Dairy Queen. She was known for her love of watching shows such as Wheel of Fortune, The Price is Right, and local news, bringing an element of fun and entertainment into her daily routine. In her younger years, she enjoyed exploring garage sales, where she would find treasures to bring home.
As a devoted family matriarch, Dominga leaves behind her three beloved daughters: Minerva (Ricardo) Zapata, Anita (Matilde) Dimas, and Senaida (Eloy) Gomez. She was a proud grandmother to Matt (Ashley) Dimas, Ricky (Kassandra) Zapata, and treasured great-grandchildren Zavian Zapata, Kaisley Zapata, Maddox Mateo Dimas, and Cameron Zapata. Her impact is also felt through her surviving siblings, including brother Jose (Lupe) Aguilar and sister by heart Tomasa Aguilar, along with her sister-in-law Betty Aguilar.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Jose B. Delgado, along with her parents, Jose and Seferina Aguilar. Dominga’s legacy continues through the memory of her siblings, including Rosa (Santos) Delgado, Maria (Julian) Flores, and brothers Manuel (Rosa), Florencio, Porfiria (Juan), and Ruben (Leonor) Aguilar, as well as her in-laws, Seferino (Clemencia) Chlamon, Ostancia (Cirildo) Zavala, Andrea (Ramon) Garcia, and Mary Delgado.
A visitation will be held in her honor on April 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville, Texas, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church in Driscoll, Texas, on April 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Cementerio de la Luz in Driscoll, Texas.
As we celebrate Dominga's life, we remember not only the milestones, but the simple yet profound moments that defined her — a life well-lived, a love well-shared, and a legacy that will forever endure.
