Dennis Gerwick fought a hard, but quick battle with cancer, and passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the age of 63.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Evanette Gerwick. He is survived by his twin brother Jerry Gerwick of Kingsvlle, brothers Ronny (Carol) Gerwick of Kingsville, Mike (LaVerne) Gerwick of Seabrook, TX, sisters Donna Van Cleve (Jimmy) of Beeville, TX and Susan (Doug) Leubert of Riviera, TX. Dennis is also survived by his nieces Ashley Gerwick, Katherine (Heath) Harkins, Tanisha (Neal) Hicks, Amy (Michael) Carson, and his nephews Ross Gerwick and Marty (Allison) Gerwick, 3 great nieces and 5 great nephews.
Dennis was loved by his family and friends, and will be remembered for his gentle, caring nature, and his own unique, and sometimes sarcastic, sense of humor. Yet Dennis always had a smile and a nice word for everyone he met. Dennis enjoyed fishing, was quite an avid reader, and he loved watching everything from old classic movies to goofy syfy movies. Anyone who knew Dennis knew he certainly loved a good, home cooked meal topped off with a delicious dessert! When the weather was cool, Dennis would always wear his trademark "Mr. Rogers" sweater, which he took the ribbing in good stride. Dennis' facial expressions said so much, without him ever saying a word.
The family would like to thank Patty, Bertha and Rosie of Gentiva Hospice and Frank Harper and Norma Ramos who took such wonderful care of Dennis. We are forever grateful to each and every one of you, for your compassion, respect, and attention and for having the love to do, what you do.
And to Dennis' good and true friends, and you know who you are, thank you for being such amazing and caring friends.
The family will have a gathering of family and friends later in the spring to celebrate the life and good memories of Dennis Gerwick. We ask that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to your favorite charity, church or organization, or just spend some good quality time with those you love.
Services are entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
