Debbie Lynn Hickman Schlomach passed away peacefully on March 27th, 2025, at the age of 64. She was born on November 18th, 1960, in Robstown, Texas, to Buford Wayne Hickman and Gertrude Irene Krieg Hickman.
Debbie moved to Kingsville at a young age when her father began working at the Kleberg County Courthouse. She shared a close bond with him throughout her life, often accompanying him to the courthouse and the old Kleberg Hospital. Later, she helped manage his electrical company, rental properties, and a storage facility they built together in the same old hospital building.
She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and an excellent homemaker. Debbie had a creative eye and enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, and decorating for the holidays. Her Halloween parties and Christmas decorations were always a highlight for family and friends.
Debbie had a kind and generous heart. She gave selflessly, cared deeply, and handled life’s challenges with quiet strength. Her love, traditions, and steady presence will always be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Terry Schlomach; her children, Eric and Amy Schlomach; and her grandchildren: Jacob, August, Elliot, Jackson, and Emi Schlomach, as well as Aiden and Eva Alvarez. She is also survived by her siblings, Rachael Greco, David Hickman, Douglas Hickman, and her best friend in the whole world, Shannon Irwin. She also leaves behind many cats she loved like family and who brought her so much joy.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a celebration of life to begin at 3:00 p.m. Services will conclude that afternoon.
A special thank you to the Weavers of Love for your support during her illness, and to the team at Holy Savior Hospice—especially Alyssa and Tammy—for your kindness and care.
