Dalia Bunch

Dalia “Dee” Chavez Bunch, daughter. Sister, mother, and devoted Christian Minister, departed this world on November 2, 2024, in Portland, Texas. Born on August 28, 1956, in Kingsville, Texas, her journey began in a small town, where she would later make an indelible mark on the lives of many as a teacher, minister, and cherished friend.

Dee as she preferred to be called had many talents. She was an elementary teacher for many years. Always inspiring her students to do their best and in later years teaching the gospel of our Lord. When she had spare time, she developed her artistic talent and her spiritual journaling. Both talents were dedicated to her love and devotion to our Lord and Savior. Countless hours of praising and worshiping our Lord.

A proud graduate of HM King High School and Kingsville A&I University, Dee not only flourished academically but also nurtured her artistic talents. She was a creative spirit, who had many talents such as painting, journaling, writing, acting in many plays throughout her high school and college days, and even baking. She was devoted to her faith and found joy in singing, especially her beloved gospel music, which resonated with her spiritual essence. In her spiritual journey, she would pray ceaselessly for her family and would spend countless hours spiritually journaling to strengthen her bond with God.

Home was a sanctuary for Dee, a place where she relished baking delightful confections, including her delectable lemon meringue pie and grapefruit pie. She cherished tending to her garden, hand-in-hand with her beloved husband, Roger C. Bunch, nurturing blooms that mirrored her vibrant personality.

Her family and friends, a constellation of love in her life, remember her as an animated social butterfly, whose presence could transform any gathering into a celebration. Dee is survived by her beloved husband, Roger; her sons, David M. (Aurora) Chavez and Dominic D. (Ava) Chavez; siblings Didio (Lupe) Trevino Jr., Maria Y. Trevino, Thelma T. (†Michael) Morehead, Carla Trevino, and Michal Richard Trevino; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry her spirit in their hearts.

Preceding her in the great beyond are her parents, Didio Trevino Sr. and Maria R. Trevino, and her brother Manuel Billy Trevino. Though their departure leaves a palpable void, it serves as a reminder of the profound love Dalia shared with them.

A service in Dalia’s honor will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 10 AM, with an urn burial following at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery.

As we gather to celebrate the life of Dalia Chavez Bunch, let us hold tight to the colors she brought into our world—a vibrant palette of creativity, love, and joy that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy is woven through the lives she touched, reminding us to dance to the rhythm of our hearts, paint our dreams in vivid hues, and savor each moment like a slice of her delectable pie.
