Cosmedin Peña Medina, age 97, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away peacefully into God’s graces on April 28, 2024. She was born on November 12, 1926, in Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, daughter of Angel C. Peña and Andrea C. Ibañez. She married Marcelo Marcos Medina on September 9, 1961, in Manila, Philippines.
Cosmedin served in the Women’s Auxiliary Corps in the Armed Forces of the Philippines during World War II and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education afterwards. She worked as a teacher in Manila, Philippines and taught at the elementary school level for 20 years. She also taught home economics at the high school level for 10 years. Cosmedin and Marcelo relocated from Manila, Philippines to Texas in 2002 to live near their two daughters and grandchildren.
Cosmedin filled and touched everyone’s life around her with love and joy. She was incredibly active in her teaching community and enjoyed being with her co-teachers and friends participating in various social events and travels. As mother to her daughters, she was the most generous person and always had their best interest at heart. Without exception, she was always willing to help and sacrifice her time and resources to make other people’s lives better with no expectation of anything in return. She delighted in spending time with her loved ones, especially her daughters, grandchildren, and great granddaughter. She had a passion for cooking, sewing, and baking, particularly her famous fruit cake that was very much in demand around the Christmas holidays. She instilled in her daughters the values of honesty, kindness, and living by the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She lived her life with humility and prayer, and through the end, she offered her unwavering love, pain, and sufferings to God with silent dignity and strength of spirit. Loved by all, cherished by many, Cosmedin lived a full and extraordinary life surrounded by her family and friends.
She is survived by many loving family members, including her daughter Angelina M. Cisneros (Rogelio) of Corpus Christi, Texas; her daughter Judith M. Clapp (Lee) of Kingsville, Texas; her grandchildren Michael Anthony Cisneros (Michelle), Gabriel Alexander Cisneros, and Victoria Angelica Cisneros of Corpus Christi, Texas, her great-granddaughter Emily Hayden Cisneros, and numerous nephews and nieces.
She is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Marcelo Marcos Medina, her parents, her sister Consejo Borje (Cornelio), sister Soledad Luz (Simeon), sister Victoria Sipin (Timoteo), and brother Angelandrino Peña.
