Corinne N. Gilstrap, formerly of BishopKingsville, Texas, passed away on March 9, 2014 in El Paso, Texas at the age of 85. Corinne was born July 11, 1928 in Refugio, Texas to Marvin and Exa Null. She graduated from King High School and attended Texas A I University. She married Tommy O. Gilstrap, Sr., on December 30, 1945. They were blessed with, and she was the most proud of, their 5 children, Gennette Lynn, Tommy OShea, Jr., James Brant, Richard Lloyd and Annette Jane. They made their home in the Bishop and Kingsville area until they moved to Houston in 1976. Tommy and Corinne then moved back home to Kingsville after his retirement in 1985.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, the job she was very proud of and loved the most. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Bishop, and after retirement, the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsville. Corinne enjoyed reading, bridge parties, spending time with her family and friends, and desserts
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Bud Marvin Null and Nap Melvin Null, her loving husband of 65 years, and her children Richard, Gennette Annette.
She is survived and will be greatly missed by her sons, Tommy Gilstrap, Jr. Kathlene and James Gilstrap of El Paso, 7 grandchildren, Amy Martinez Fabian, Johnny Wright Kimberly, Shannon Hill John, Travis Black Jennifer, Kristen Bonano Josh, Richard Gilstrap Rebecca and Candace Keechi Matthew, 12 greatgrandchildren, 1 greatgreatgrandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas beginning at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church, 302 W. Kleberg Ave., Kingsville, Texas with Rev. Sonja Dalglish officiating. Burial will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery.
