On April 12, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable soul, Christela Mendietta, whose presence illuminated the lives of countless individuals throughout her journey on this earth. Born on August 22, 1950, Christela graced this world with her unwavering determination, kindness, and profound love for education.
Christela Mendietta dedicated over 40 years of her life to shaping young minds as an esteemed educator. Her passion for teaching knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on generations of students who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her. With a master’s degree in education as her guiding beacon, Christela instilled a love for learning in all those she touched.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Christela was a strong woman of faith. Her unwavering belief and spiritual devotion served as a steadfast anchor in both good times and challenging moments. Her faith not only guided her own path but also served as a source of inspiration for those around her.
Outside the classroom, Christela Mendietta found solace and joy in the company of her beloved family. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and took immense pride in attending their various events - from rodeos and livestock shows to sports games. Her love knew no bounds, and she was always ready for an adventure alongside her children.
In the hearts of those who knew her, Christela Mendietta's legacy will continue to shine brightly like a beacon of hope and wisdom. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace knowing that she has left behind a profound impact that will be cherished for years to come.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Erasmo “Coche” Mendietta; parents, Alberto and Herlinda Garza; brother, Alberto Garza, Jr.; and infant sister, Consuelo Garza.
Among those left to cherish her memory are her children, Jose “Joey” (Patricia) Mendietta, Julie Ann (Manny) De La Rosa, and Jessica (Ramon) Gomez; siblings, Rose (Andy) Salinas, Juan (Patsy) Garza, and Connie (Carlos) Martinez; sister-in-law, Dalissa Garza; grandchildren, Tracie (Jacob) Alegria, Teresa (Richard) Lopez, Cristian (Myah Medrano) Gomez, Jose “Tres” Mendietta, III., Harlie Gomez, Ramon Diego Gomez, Trista Mendietta, Jacob Mendietta, Nathan De La Rosa, and Ryan De La Rosa; great-grandchildren, Case Alegria, Andres Gomez, and Aliyah Gomez; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary; with a holy rosary to be reacted at 7:00 p.m. A mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 1:00 p.m., at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church. A rite of committal and interment will follow at Chamberlain Cemetery
