Charles Howard Reese, 88 years and 364 days old, passed away at 9:10AM on March 20, 2018 at Spohn Kleberg Hospital in Kingsville, TX with his loving wife and best friend Patty at his side.
Howard was born in Kingsville, TX on March 21, 1929 to Ethel & Hill Reese. He was the first born of three children and was the only son. His early years were spent in Kingsville and he attended elementary school there as well. He attended and graduated from TMI in San Antonio, TX.
Howard proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Marines. He was a veteran of the Korean War (1952-53). Semper Fi !!!
After his service, he continued his education at Texas A&I College in Kingsville. He graduated with a degree in Business. While in college he was an active member of Kappa Sigma, the world's largest social fraternity. He was also an avid swimmer while enrolled at A&I and was a lifeguard at the country club in Kingsville.
After graduation, Howard worked in the service department of Continental EMSCO in Corpus Christi. Later he was employed by Hoechst Celanese in Bishop as a purchasing agent. He retired from that job after 29 continuous years of employment.
In the early ‘50's Howard started dating a girl that would end up being the love of his life. On December 21, 1955 Howard and Patty were married in the town of Kingsville where they would reside for the remainder of their days together. In 1956 they were the proud parents of baby girl they named Karen. Then in 1961 they proudly added baby sister Sarah.
Like many other Texans, Howard was a Dallas Cowboys football fan. He followed the ‘boys through the good years and the not so good years. He did his share of arm chair coaching as all true fans do and he did not hesitate to chew them out when they needed it.
Howard was a hunter and he really looked forward to the trips to the lease with his hunting buddies. Hunting was a part of the trip of course, but a lot of his "hunting" stories involved tales of sitting around the campfire and the
camaraderie that occurred there. All we will say on the other subject is that the hunters were never hungry or thirsty.
He also enjoyed "Poker Night" with the boys. He had his share of wins and losses, but more important than that, they all had a great time and laughed a lot when they played. As a Celanese employee, Howard enjoyed played golf at the Celanese golf course before it closed and at the country club.
