Cecilia Garcia

Cecilia Garcia, a cherished matriarch and cornerstone of her family, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, in Kingsville, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on September 4, 1932, at Laureles Ranch, she lived her life full of compassion, kindness, and spirituality, creating a legacy that will resonate through her family for generations to come.

Cecilia was the embodiment of love and maternal warmth; she was often seen as a mother to all who entered her home. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family, steeped in rich traditions and values that were woven into the fabric of their daily lives, and she will be remembered for her compassionate and kind spirit. With a profound devotion to her faith, Cecilia would Pray the Rosary and engage in daily devotions, underscoring her unwavering commitment to her Catholic beliefs. This devotion served as a guiding light for her family and friends alike.

Her personality shone brightly; she was compassionate, loyal, and immensely proud of her role as a sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She leaves behind a loving family that includes her children Rey (Rosie), Esther (Mike), Rolando (Angie), Robert, Ricky (Jackie), Esmeralda (Edward), Ramiro, Estella (Hector), Roel (Karen), and Patrick (Genie) Chapa. She also leaves behind her sister Maria Angelica Gonzales, sister-in-law Armandina Quintanilla, her brothers-in-law Domingo (Josie) Garcia, and Mathias Vera, and numerous other brother and sister in laws. In her embrace, she also nurtured 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, alongside numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts, alongside her aunts, uncles, and other extended family members who she cherished deeply.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, Reynaldo Garcia, whose love matched her own. Her parents, Jesus and Jesusa (Silva) Quintanilla, along with three brothers and multiple sisters- and brothers-in-law, also welcomed her into eternal rest. They are joined now in a peaceful reunion, surrounded by the warmth and light she brought into this world.

Her life will be celebrated with a visitation held on October 9, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary in Kingsville with a Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass in her honor will take place the following day, October 10, 2024, at St. Gertrude's Catholic Church, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a burial at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

Cecilia Garcia's life was a testament to selflessness, love, and unwavering faith. Though she has departed from our sight, her legacy will be etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. In the stillness of prayer or a moment of quiet reflection, may we find solace in the comfort of the beautiful memories she leaves behind.

On behalf of the family, we would like to give our sincerest thanks to Kingsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Kingsville Hospice, and staff at Christus Spohn Hospital Kleberg.
