Carmen H. Martinez Sr., age 84, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2016 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born on April 21, 1932 in Ricardo, Texas to Natividad and Maria Martinez. He married Tomasita Vecchio on December 21, 1954.
Martinez served his country in the Korean War as a tank commander from 1952-1954, ending his time in service as a Staff Sergeant. He then worked for VT Collins for many years until retirement.
Carmen was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Martinez is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Tomasita V. Martinez of Kingsville; sister Rosa M. Obregon of Ricardo; daughter, Rita M. Allen of Kingsville; daughter, Viola (Jesse) Perez of Kingsville; son, Carmen H. Martinez Jr. (Norma C.) of Kingsville; daughter, Vickie (Randy) Randolph of Oklahoma and Daniel R. (Hilda) Martinez of Big Spring, Texas; 18 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annabelle (Michael) Garza.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel, Kingsville. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery.
