Bobby Burris

Bobby Alton Burris, age 79, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 in Kingsville, Texas. He was born on October 24, 1933 to Alton Alvin Burris and Rose Marie Bedford Burris in Kingsville.
Mr. Burris is preceded in death by his loving wife of 47 years, Augusta Tita Burris and parents.
He is survived by his son, Bobby W. Burris and wife Elizabeth of McAllen, Texas two granddaughters, Ashley Marie Burris and Julia Nicole Burris, both of McAllen a greatgranddaughter, Katelyn Marie Burris a brother, Homer A. Burris and wife Sherry of Kingsville.
Bobbys passion began in the 1950s to 1960s with the National Hot Rod Association drag racing. In the 1970s to 1980s, he enjoyed performance boats and water skiing. His love for cars resurfaced in the 1990s to the present with his 1940 Ford Street Rod.
He was also a member of Kingsville Elk, National Street Rod Association, Lone Star Street Rod Association, Mustang Club of America, Good Guys Club and Kingsville Auto Club. Bobby was a U.S. Army veteran.
His greatest love was his grandchildren which he adored.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary and family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2013 at the TurcottePiper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jim M. Curran officiating. Burial will follow in Kingsville at Resthaven Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to TurcottePiper Mortuary, 205 East General Cavazos Blvd. Kingsville, Texas.
